I want to thank you and your guide crew for the wonderful time I had hunting snow geese in Arkansas. I also want to share some highlights from a woman’s perspective. Knowing that I was very welcome and immediately accepted by everyone at the lodge diminished my apprehension within minutes of arriving at camp. Of course, I did take some ribbing for my long, steamy showers, but those comments with a group of good humored folks were at every turn. My advice to any woman even remotely interested in snow goose camp; go for it! The experience is a blast with lots of laughter, excellent food and memories galore around every corner.
My favorite saying from the trip: Take ‘em Donna!! (P.S.Leave your makeup at home!)
Goose and Duck Smackers is a very good outfitter for women who want to hunt waterfowl. They were very good at giving me every opportunity to shoot birds. I took part in a spring snow goose hunts with my husband and his extended family; we all had a great time! The first day out the number of birds, both geese and ducks, we saw was amazing. The only snag came about when the first ground blind I used was a Beavertail, which the guys loved, but was too big for me, and I was too slow getting out of it. They were very accommodating and quickly switched out my ground blind for an X Lander which was much easier for me to use. Our guide’s retriever Grace; was awesome! I would most definitely use GDS again to hunt geese and would like to try ducks in the future!
Hunting with the guys from Goose and Duck Smackers was amazing. They know what to do and just how to do it to get you the birds. There main goal is to make sure you have a great time and you will. The guides know what they’re doing and they do it very well. If I couldrecommend any guide service these guys would definitely be my first choice. On the first day, when we showed up we were greeted with friendliness. The next day when we went hunting it was a great experience. The guides would tell us stories about some of the greatest hunts they have been on or about what they did during the off-season. All of the guys are very dedicated to hunting and it shows. They would tell us what to expect and they exceeded the expectations. If it were up to me, I would go hunting with these guys every year because the experience was amazing and I learned so much about hunting.
